Choosing a location for your quinceañera photoshoot is about more than finding a beautiful backdrop. The location becomes part of your story.
Do you picture yourself surrounded by Chicago’s architecture? Walking through the city in your quinceañera dress? Surrounded by greenery? Or stepping into a grand historic building that makes your photos feel almost regal?
Chicago and the surrounding suburbs give us so many beautiful options.
At RS Photography, we help our quinceañera families choose locations that complement the dress, personality and overall vision for the session. Here are eight Chicago and Chicagoland locations to consider.

1. Chicago Riverwalk
If you want your quinceañera photos to immediately say Chicago, the Riverwalk is one of our favorite options.
The river, bridges and surrounding architecture give us an incredible amount of variety without having to travel from one side of the city to another. Your photos can feel elegant and architectural in one moment and full of movement and city energy in the next.
It’s a beautiful choice for a quinceañera who wants Chicago itself to become part of her story.
2. LaSalle Street
For a more dramatic, editorial look, LaSalle Street is hard to beat.
The towering architecture, long city views and Chicago Board of Trade in the distance create a setting that feels sophisticated and almost cinematic.
We especially love this area for dramatic gowns because the softness and movement of a quinceañera dress creates such a beautiful contrast against the strong lines of the surrounding architecture.
If your vision is less “garden princess” and more fashion editorial in the city, put LaSalle Street on your list.
3. The Wrigley Building & Michigan Avenue
The Wrigley Building area gives you one of the most recognizable Chicago looks without every photograph needing to feature a skyline.
Its light architecture photographs beautifully, while the surrounding Michigan Avenue area gives us access to the river, bridges, skyscrapers and city streets.
It’s an excellent option for families who want a classic, elegant Chicago gallery with plenty of visual variety.
4. Douglas Park
Douglas Park
Not every quinceañera photoshoot needs to happen downtown.
Douglas Park offers a beautiful mix of greenery, open spaces, water and classic park scenery that can give your quinceañera photographs a completely different feel from the city.
Rather than relying on busy downtown backdrops, we use the trees, pathways, bridges, water and surrounding landscape to create portraits that feel natural, elegant and timeless. Every area of the park gives us an opportunity to create something a little different.
For a quinceañera who wants beautiful outdoor photographs with plenty of variety—without the downtown setting—Douglas Park is definitely worth considering.

5. Garfield Park Conservatory
If you’ve been dreaming about greenery, romance and a garden-inspired setting, Garfield Park Conservatory offers an entirely different atmosphere.
The lush surroundings can create soft, beautiful portraits while giving you the feeling of being somewhere far outside Chicago.
It’s also one of the locations families often consider when they love the garden look but want something more distinctive than a traditional outdoor park.
Professional special-occasion photography does require advance planning and appropriate photography permissions, so this is a location you’ll want to plan ahead for.
6. The Rookery Building
The Rookery is for the quinceañera who wants something grand.
Located in downtown Chicago, its historic architecture, famous Light Court and sweeping staircase create an elegant setting that feels completely different from an outdoor city session.
Pair that architecture with a dramatic quinceañera gown and the photographs can feel timeless, sophisticated and almost European.
Scheduled portrait sessions require advance arrangements with the building, so this is another location that should be planned well before your photoshoot date.
7. Chicago Union Station
There is something about a beautiful quinceañera gown inside Chicago Union Station that just works.
The scale of the architecture, columns, staircases and historic details allow us to create photographs that feel cinematic and timeless.
It’s particularly beautiful for a quinceañera who wants the drama of a historic interior while still keeping her session unmistakably Chicago.
Professional portrait photography at Union Station requires a permit, so we consider this a premium location rather than a complimentary photoshoot location.

8. Rialto Square Theatre
And sometimes, the perfect Chicago-area location isn’t actually in Chicago.
Located in downtown Joliet, the historic Rialto Square Theatre is a beautiful option for a quinceañera who wants her photographs to feel truly grand.
The ornate architecture, dramatic interiors and grand staircase can give a quinceañera session an almost regal feeling—especially when paired with a statement ball gown.
Because the Rialto is an operating theatre and event venue, photography access needs to be arranged in advance.
So, Which Quinceañera Photoshoot Location Should You Choose?
Start with her.
What does she want her photographs to feel like?
Romantic? Dramatic? Colorful? Elegant? Modern? Timeless?
Then think about the dress, the season and the overall vision.
A red ball gown photographed on LaSalle Street tells a completely different story than that same dress surrounded by greenery at Garfield Park Conservatory.
Neither is better.
The goal is to find the setting that feels like her.
And you don’t have to figure all of that out alone.
At RS Photography, helping our families think through these details is part of the experience. We want you to arrive at your photoshoot excited about what’s ahead, not wondering where to go or what happens next.
